About Friends

The Friends of the Punta Gorda Library is a non-profit organization that supports the library programs and services.  Members of the Friends act as advocates for the Punta Gorda Library.

When you become a Friend, your membership contribution enables the Friends to promote the use of the library, further the appreciation of books, literacy and education in the community, support adult and children’s programs, sponsor programs of community interest, publish the bookmark (a newsletter of the library happenings), and operate the Friends bookstore. 

The library is financed largely by Charlotte County, however, the Friends contribute volunteer services and funds for resources that would not otherwise be possible through the county budget alone.

Volunteers shelve books and work in the Friends bookstore.  If you have some time to give to our community, the library will welcome you.
